Electronic Portfolio

The Arc of Indiana County Board Members, Dr. Sue Glor-Scheib and Heather Telthorster produced a DVD, Student Electronic Portfolios For Participating IEP & Transition Planning, bases on Heather’s Power Point presentation, “Transition Finding Your Gifts”.

TEACHING Exceptional Children Plus, volume 2, Issue 3, January 2006 features an article written by Dr. Glor-Scheib and Ms. Telthorster, “Activate Your Student IEP Team Member Using Technology: How Electronic Portfolios Can Bring the Student Voice to Life!”. The article can be seen at this website:

Dr. Glor-Scheib has presented information about using an electronic portfolio to students at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 2004 & 2005 Pennsylvania Council For Exceptional Children Conferences, 2005 PA Community of Transition Conference, PA Office of Developmental Programs Employment Council, Chatham University,  UCP Workshop and other workshops.

Through the use of an electronic portfolio, individuals with disabilities and their families can communicate the individual’s abilities, likes/dislikes, career interests, leisure interests, and community involvement. The electronic portfolio assists the individual in:

·        developing their self-determination and leadership skills

·        recognizing their strengths, disability and any needed accommodations

·        having a voice at school, agency, provider and other meetings

The Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs is  recommending the use of an electronic portfolio in the development of the Individual Service Plan (ISP).
